Two million people all around me,
But I only see the shadows pass.
Crowded streets and crowded places,
Still nobody seems to see my face.
Thousands of people in my phone,
Names and numbers, one by one.
So many friends behind a screen,
But when I’m down, where have they been?
I scroll through pictures of their lives,
Everybody’s doing fine.
Smiling faces, perfect nights,
While I’m sitting here alone tonight.
Maybe nobody really knows me,
Maybe nobody really cares.
I’ve got a thousand conversations,
But nobody’s really there.
I’ll post a story
So they know I’m alive.
I don’t need anybody
To like it tonight.
I don’t need a comment,
I don’t need a reply.
I’ll post a story
So they know I’m alive.
I’ll post a story,
Just a picture of me.
Maybe someone will remember
That I’m still here to see.
There are people in the coffee shops,
People laughing at the bar.
Everybody’s going somewhere,
Everybody knows where they are.
I walk among them like a stranger,
Like I’m watching through a glass.
They keep moving with their lives,
And I keep wondering how long I can last.
My phone is full of conversations,
But the room is completely quiet.
I could call a hundred people,
But tonight I don’t feel like trying.
Maybe loneliness is strange,
When you’re never really alone.
You’ve got everybody’s number,
But nobody to call your own.
I’ll post a story
So they know I’m alive.
I don’t need anybody
To like it tonight.
I don’t need a comment,
I don’t need a reply.
I’ll post a story
So they know I’m alive.
I’ll post a story,
Just a picture of me.
Maybe someone will remember
That I’m still here to see.
Tomorrow I’ll delete it,
Like I always do.
Another twenty-four hours
And nobody knew.
But for one little moment,
I’ll leave my face online.
Not asking for attention,
Just saying, “I’m still alive.”
I’ll post a story
So they know I’m alive.
I don’t need anybody
To like it tonight.
I don’t need a comment,
I don’t need a reply.
I’ll post a story
So they know I’m alive.
I’ll post a story,
Just a picture of me.
Maybe someone will remember
That I’m still here to see.
Two million people…
And I’m walking alone.
Thousands of names…
And nobody home.
I’ll post a story…
Just so they know…
I’m alive.
