I’ve always wondered, I’ve always dreamed
My dog is clever, or so it seemed
So good and kind, with loyal heart
Just quiet always, right from the start
I realized when I got married
If he ever talked, I’d be harried
He’d stir up trouble, he’d nag and fight
He’d make my days a constant plight
It’s good that he doesn’t talk
He won’t criticize or balk
He won’t make trouble or strife
Just like my wife
I walk with him, I take my time
No words to clutter, no hill to climb
He’s faithful, true, always near
No grumbles, no sneer
It’s good that he doesn’t talk
He won’t criticize or balk
He won’t make trouble or strife
Just like my wife
He never talks, he never complains
Just wagging tail in sun or rains
Better than words, better than fights
I’m happy with my dog’s quiet life
