Long way home

A person walking on a winding road surrounded by mountains during sunset

I’ve walked a thousand miles alone
Through deserts made of stone
Every lesson came with pain
But I’d do it all again

The winding road has changed my soul
Every loss became a goal
I learned that strength is often found
Where no easy path is around

The sun goes down, the stars appear
And somehow my direction’s clear

I’m taking the long way home
Following roads unknown
Maybe that’s where I belong
Maybe that’s where I’ll be strong

I’ve seen the cities rise and fall
Heard the lonely highway call
Watched the seasons come and go
Teaching things I’ll never know

Some roads end and some begin
Some are lost beneath the wind
But every mile beneath my feet
Has made the man I’m meant to be

The night is cold, the world is wide
But hope is walking by my side

I’m taking the long way home
Following roads unknown
Maybe that’s where I belong
Maybe that’s where I’ll be strong

I’m taking the long way home
Following roads unknown
Maybe that’s where I belong
Maybe that’s where I’ll be strong
