I don’t have anything important to say,
No great words for the end of the day.
I don’t need to change the world tonight,
I just want to put a few words right.
I can write about the morning sun,
About a cup of coffee when the day has begun.
About the weather, the street, the rain,
About a little joy, a little pain.
No great ideas, no master plan,
I’m just another ordinary man.
No secret hidden underneath,
Just little thoughts inside my head.
Nothing special, nothing new,
Just the same old sky of blue.
Little thoughts that come and go,
Little things I’ll never know.
Nothing special, nothing grand,
Just a little time in my hands.
Maybe that’s enough for me,
To be exactly what I see.
I don’t need to write a masterpiece,
I don’t need to find the words for peace.
I can write about a lonely street,
Or the sound of someone’s walking feet.
I can write about the things I see,
A passing face, a memory.
A broken chair, an open door,
A song I’ve heard a thousand times before.
No revolution in my head,
No words that everybody needs.
Just little questions, little doubts,
And all the things I think about.
Nothing special, nothing new,
Just the same old sky of blue.
Little thoughts that come and go,
Little things I’ll never know.
Nothing special, nothing grand,
Just a little time in my hands.
Maybe that’s enough for me,
To be exactly what I see.
No big ambition, no grand design,
No need to leave a mark behind.
I don’t have to prove a thing,
I don’t have to make the whole world sing.
Maybe a simple word is enough,
Maybe ordinary can be tough.
Maybe a song about nothing at all
Is still worth singing when the evening falls.
Nothing special, nothing new,
Just the same old sky of blue.
Little thoughts that come and go,
Little things I’ll never know.
Nothing special, nothing grand,
Just a little time in my hands.
Maybe that’s enough for me,
To be exactly what I see.
