Every morning brings a question,
Every screen has something new.
Everybody’s got an answer,
Everybody knows what’s true.
Left or right, black or white,
Pick a side and join the fight.
But some things need a little time,
Some questions don’t need a line.
Not every road needs a direction,
Not every word needs a reply.
Sometimes the wisest thing to say
Is simply, “I don’t know why.”
I don’t have to have an opinion,
I don’t have to know it all.
I don’t have to have an answer
Every time somebody calls.
I don’t have to take a position,
I don’t have to choose a side.
I can leave some things unanswered,
And still be satisfied.
Someone’s talking in the kitchen,
Someone’s shouting on TV.
One more argument about something
Nobody agrees to see.
Facts are flying through the room,
Everybody’s got the proof.
Maybe truth can wait till morning,
Maybe there is more than one.
Not every silence means surrender,
Not every doubt means being weak.
Sometimes leaving room for questions
Is the strongest thing to speak.
I don’t have to have an opinion,
I don’t have to know it all.
I don’t have to have an answer
Every time somebody calls.
I don’t have to take a position,
I don’t have to choose a side.
I can leave some things unanswered,
And still be satisfied.
Let the questions stay as questions,
Let the answers take their time.
Not every thought needs a label,
Not every truth fits in a line.
The world can keep demanding
A simple yes or no.
Sometimes “maybe” is enough,
Sometimes “I don’t know.”
I don’t have to have an opinion,
I don’t have to know it all.
I don’t have to have an answer
Every time somebody calls.
I don’t have to take a position,
I don’t have to choose a side.
I can leave some things unanswered,
And still be satisfied.
No answer tonight…
No side to choose…
Some things can wait,
Some things can stay unknown.
