It’s two in the morning,
I’m staring at the ceiling again.
The same old questions keep coming back,
The same old fears I can’t explain.
I think about the things I said,
The things I should have done.
I keep fighting tomorrow
Before tomorrow has begun.
My phone is lying on the table,
I check it one more time.
Nothing’s really happening,
But somehow I know I’ll be fine.
I’ve been here a hundred times before,
Worried sick about what’s next.
I make a storm inside my head
And call it common sense.
Relax,
Everything will be alright.
Relax,
You don’t have to fix your life tonight.
You’ll see tomorrow
How pointless it all seemed,
All the things you worried about,
All the things that kept you awake.
Relax,
Just let this night go by.
Relax,
You’ll see tomorrow why.
I worry about the money,
I worry about the work.
I worry that somebody’s angry,
I worry that I’ve been a jerk.
I replay every conversation,
Looking for something I got wrong.
I turn one little problem
Into something ten miles long.
And then the morning comes around,
The coffee’s on, the world goes on.
Half the things that scared me last night
Don’t even matter by dawn.
How many nights have I wasted
Trying to control it all?
Some things were never in my hands,
No matter how hard I fought.
Relax,
Everything will be alright.
Relax,
You don’t have to fix your life tonight.
You’ll see tomorrow
How pointless it all seemed,
All the things you worried about,
All the things that kept you awake.
Relax,
Just let this night go by.
Relax,
You’ll see tomorrow why.
So breathe in slowly,
Put your feet back on the floor.
You don’t have to solve your whole life
Before you walk out that door.
Whatever comes, I’ll deal with it.
I’ve done it all before.
And if tomorrow brings another storm,
I’ll face it when it comes.
Relax,
Everything will be alright.
Relax,
You don’t have to fix your life tonight.
You’ll see tomorrow
How pointless it all seemed,
All the things you worried about,
All the things that kept you awake.
Relax,
Just let this night go by.
Relax,
You’ll see tomorrow why.
It’s two in the morning…
And I’m still here.
Maybe that’s enough for tonight.
Relax…
Everything will be alright.
